Despite increased celebrity discussions on menopause, it remains a somewhat hush-hush topic. Menopause typically begins in the late forties, with the final period occurring before the mid-fifties. But, this journey is unique to each woman. It’s not just a human experience; surprisingly, killer whales and short-finned pilot whales share this phase too.
While some women navigate menopause without symptoms, others face significant discomfort. This phase isn’t just about saying goodbye to periods or managing hot flushes. Many people don’t understand how to support those experiencing it. For example, when my mum went through menopause, I didn’t realise what it was, nor how to help her with her irritability, lack of motivation, and sadness. This highlights the need for open conversations and increased awareness about this natural phase of life.
My personal experience
As a new mum over 40, I’m embracing perimenopause by trying various strategies and seeing what works. Despite the hormonal fluctuations that can be stressful, I’ve found peace in a holistic lifestyle that includes diet and exercise. These changes have positively affected my well-being and self-worth.
My approach is deeply personal, and everyone’s experience is different. It’s important to consult a healthcare provider before embarking on any new regime. But, I’ve integrated simple yet effective rituals into my daily routine that contribute to my well-being. I enjoy nourishing bone broth at lunchtime, take a shot of wheatgrass juice in the afternoon, and end the day with apple cider vinegar-infused water. I space these rituals throughout the day to maximise their impact.
The power of apple cider vinegar (ACV)
ACV can support leanness, muscle development, and more. For the best results, choose organic ACV with the “mother,” which contains beneficial bacteria, proteins, and enzymes. A quick shake of the bottle helps incorporate these health-boosting elements, unlocking ACV’s full potential.
Antibacterial properties and gut health
ACV isn’t just for internal health; its antibacterial properties make it a skincare ally, helping control acne, soothe irritation, and rejuvenate the skin. Its probiotic properties also support a healthy gut microbiome. Additionally, ACV may contribute to heart health by helping manage cholesterol levels.
“This daily ritual is my commitment to a holistic approach that nurtures not only my physical health, but also my vitality and balance.”
