Ideas for the perfect Pokémon-themed party

As Little C turned seven, we transformed our local community centre into a Pokémon-themed extravaganza. Originally set on a Mario Bros. party, the shift to Pokémon proved to be a winning decision, creating memories that will last a lifetime!

Pokémon party favors

I played party planner and created personalised Pokémon cards using a custom app. Photos and text were uploaded to design cards that reflected Little C’s birthday theme. These were displayed in plastic ‘lucky dip’ envelopes and cardholder stands from Amazon.

  • An Energy card
  • Pokémon cards from Vinted
  • Stickers

While a special card swap added excitement, the real fun was in the overall joy of discovery!

Themed treats

To add a sweet touch, I bought 50 chocolate coins from Amazon and decorated them with Pokéball stickers from Etsy. Decorations included brightly coloured cups, energy stickers, miniature trophies, sweets, bubbles, and party whistles. I may have over-purchased, but the goal was a truly memorable seventh birthday!

Cake and decorations

Little C requested a yellow and blue Pokémon cake topped with a Pokéball. Thankfully, H knew a baker who could deliver. We also added Pokémon helium balloons, a backdrop banner, a personalised selfie frame, and felt Pokémon masks from Vinted. The room was transformed into a full Pokémon wonderland!

Setting the scene

With a blend of Etsy decals, Vinted banners, and community centre support, including yellow lunch boxes, the party space became an immersive Pokémon playground. Menu blackboards from The Works in Eldon Square, Newcastle, displayed creative snack names, adding to the magic.

The pièce de résistance

The Pokémon cake, standing tall with a banner backdrop, was both a visual and tasty highlight. For safety, we skipped walnuts due to nut allergies. Each child left with a Pokémon-themed goodie bag from Shweeties in Great Park, ensuring everyone had a keepsake from the celebration.

Modern celebration

Persian culture values grand birthday celebrations with music, dance, and generous hospitality. Our party embraced this tradition, blending contemporary elements with cultural flair, creating an unforgettable experience for both kids and adults.

“Persian parties are all about creating magic – attention to detail and joy for everyone, from the birthday child to the community.”
