Hi, I’m Saffron. Welcome to Saffron and Cyrus, a blog created in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. It’s a space shaped by midlife, women’s health and the realities that rarely make it to social media. What you will find here is the everyday truth of family life, work, and wellbeing, written from a lived place rather than a polished one.
I began my career as a daily news journalist more than 20 years ago and now balance PR work, raising a nine year old and juggling the gentle complexities of a Persian-British household. Many of my friends have moved on, their children grown and their time their own, and I often catch myself standing somewhere between those worlds.
At 50, my focus has shifted toward the kind of wellbeing that stands strong. I am an endomorph who enjoys the gym, good food and the discipline of looking after a body that has carried me through more than I once realised. We are not a curated family or a picture of perfection. We are simply living, learning and doing our best.
If you are looking for honest reflections on midlife, fitness and women’s health, this is your place.
Brain fog on the Tyne
Once, I dreamed of moving to Norway. Fjords, fresh air, forests…pure bliss. Then reality hit: not speaking the language is inconvenient when you like eating, breathing, and existing. So here I am, with brain fog on the Tyne living in Newcastle upon Tyne.
This blog is my megaphone to cut through the nonsense. To show women over 40 that being yourself is enough. That your body, your family life, your career highs and lows, and your hormonal rollercoasters all matter. No gloss. No filters. Just real midlife.

Partnerships and collaborations
I occasionally work with brands, but only those that genuinely resonate. If I’m talking about it, I believe in it. Expect authentic, heart-to-heart recommendations that fit real midlife life.
