How We’ve Upped Our Workout Game With Wheatgrass

I stumbled upon the wheatgrass phenomenon a number of years ago during its peak as a health fad. Back then, I wasn’t sipping on the green mixture for its fitness-boosting qualities, but rather for its promises to enhance my complexion. Like any trend, the wheatgrass craze eventually fizzled out.

Fast forward to today, a time when this health trend seems to have made a comeback. It was during one of our explorations on the Raw Living website, a trusted source for health and wellness products that we’ve grown to love, that hubby, H and I rediscovered wheatgrass. Intrigued by the potential benefits and trusting the quality of Raw Living’s organic offerings, we decided to give wheatgrass another shot.

I’m glad we did! The wheatgrass juice powder from Raw Living turned out to be a game-changer. Unlike the blends I had tried in the past, this powder boasts a smoother texture that enhances the overall experience. It’s a testament to the quality we’ve come to expect from Raw Living, and it has definitely proved worthwhile.

Why Wheatgrass Juice Powder?

Wheatgrass juice is a powerhouse of minerals, enzymes, and vitamins, boasting an exceptional concentration of chlorophyll. This green gem serves as an antioxidant for mums over 40 like me, combatting the free radicals responsible for aging skin. By enhancing collagen production and eliminating toxins, wheatgrass juice has become my guardian against wrinkles and a promoter of skin vitality.

One of the star components in wheatgrass juice is alpha-lipoic acid (ALA). Renowned for its antioxidant prowess, ALA battles the free radicals contributing to aging. Beyond that, it acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, addressing under-eye circles, puffiness, redness, and blotches, all while diminishing the appearance of wrinkles. The antibacterial properties of wheatgrass play a significant role in accelerating skin healing, offering relief from sunburn, breakouts, and blemishes.

Wheatgrass In Action

Now, let’s explore how wheatgrass can enhance your workout or athletic performance, drawing insights from Healthline.

Wheatgrass helps improve circulation, nourishing organs and cells during exercise, making them resistant to free radicals and other damage. The result? Enhanced ability and more effective workouts. I can really feel the oxygenating power of drinking wheatgrass as it fuels my cells, and optimises my workouts.

From Vitamin A to beta carotene, wheatgrass provides antioxidants that maintain cognitive function and support lung health. Its iron content aids in transporting oxygen to muscles and it definitely keeps my cognitive function sharp and muscles oxygenated during a Les Mills’ Body Pump class.

Boosts Energy

The concentration of B vitamins, including the energy powerhouse Vitamin B12, in wheatgrass provides me with the vigour needed to surpass a personal best in a spin class. I feel as if I have more vitality to push my limits and achieve better performance after drinking it.

Helps My Body Heal

Wheatgrass isn’t just a pre-workout drink though, it aids in post-exercise recovery too. Its nutrients protect the immune system, so accelerate healing from injuries or illnesses, and contributes to overall well-being. It’s definitely helped support me in bouncing back from Achilles and back injuries, as well as other health setbacks.

The Taste Challenge

Now I’ve personally experimented with various concoctions to make wheatgrass taste more pleasant, but the earthy, grassy taste is a challenge to completely mask. Even H, with his lemon water, cayenne pepper concoction still can’t get it to taste any better. Please send suggestions in the comment box, as I’m all ears on this one!

Wheatgrass And Nowruz

Wheatgrass, with its vibrant green colour, always serves as a nostalgic reminder of Nowruz, the Persian New Year. The lively green hue evokes the spirit of renewal and growth, mirroring the essence of this celebration. Although we haven’t ever tried to blend or drink the lentil sprouts we grow.

The New Mum Over 40 Secret

Curious minds often ask me about my workout routine. How do I manage three and four classes back to back. The secret sauce? This green juice. As a new mum over 40, it’s my energy-packed companion that fuels me through every squat, jump, and lift, making each workout more fun.

Path To Peak Performance

Remember that you’re not just adopting a pre-workout routine – you’re embracing a holistic approach to health and fitness. Here’s to health, happiness, the vibrant energy that this juice brings to your workout and radiance to your skin.
