Since cold coffee is now my life, Master C REALLY wanted to treat his mummy to some caffeine and cake. So what was a pro-coffee mum with a teething baby (up several times a night) supposed to do? I set myself a challenge to find Newcastle’s most comforting coffee shop (one where I could sip and relax and somewhere Master C didn’t turn into a bubbling brew).
Review: Costa coffee might be a chain, but it’s a very good one. The staff were really friendly and even chatted to Master C as they made my brew. I also experienced quick service, good tasty coffee and a FREE gingerbread treat too.
C and I had been eyeing up the cake selection as we stood in the queue, but given that it was going to cost around £7 for both coffee and cake, we gave it a miss. After all £3 extra was another bottle of Aptamil.
There were two floors and an outside seating area, although it was far too cold on the day we attended to sit there. Brownie points therefore go to the staff who were really attentive and came straight over to clean our table when we arrived.
The only downside was that this Costa was choked with students bearing laptops, so getting a comfy seat proved difficult and made feeding time a little uncomfortable. We also had a table that rocked so it was a good job I’d opted for a take-out cup – #safetyfirst. A chair that rocked might have been a bonus since C was really tired. All in all, it was a nice place to chill and take a break from city shopping.
